Eindhoven, the Netherlands, Feb. 13, 2019 – EnGenius is incorporating the EnJet function into their point-to-point and point-to-multipoint solutions. The technology is based on time-division multiple access (TDMA), a channel access method which allows each client to send and receive data using pre-designated time slots scheduled by the EnJet protocol eliminating hidden node collisions and maximizing airtime efficiency. The EnJet technology is ideal for high-performance outdoor networking.
Collision and latency costs associated with traditional data transmissions
Traditionally, when CSMA (Carrier Sense Multiple Access) APs transmit data they take time to ensure that the data transmitted to each AP is not interrupted by the collision from other APs. This time that is spent on collision avoidance checks creates latency costs for your network. When your outdoor network spans long distances, this latency cost is multiplied. If multiple APs transmit data simultaneously, then the latency in your network grows even worse as the APs must check to avoid collision again and again before transmitting.
Reducing data collisions and latency costs
The EnJet technology features proprietary time division multiple access technology to avoid data collision between APs for a faster and more efficient network. It allocates signals from each access point into time slots and schedules their transmission time. The EnJet technology coordinates the order of the data transmission from multiple sources to achieve greater speeds by avoiding the time-lag generated by collision detection.
The benefits and advantages of EnJet technology
The EnJet technology is a powerful solution for networks spanning large distances and is optimised for various outdoor wireless deployments. In these long-distance deployments, the EnJet feature retains a high and stable throughput. It features the 11ac Wave 2 standard and IP55 protection marking to deliver high reliability under harsh environment. Accompanied by it is the EnWiFi APP, a centralised control and management tool which system installers can use to perform easy deployment on outdoor applications. Users can conduct mass configuration changes, monitoring, firmware upgrades, and configure backups at the ease of their fingertips.
The EnGenius point-to-point and point-to-multipoint solutions which include ENS500EXT-AC, ENS500-AC, EnStation5-AC, EnStationAC and ENH500 will be equipped with the EnJet technology.
