How do I configure my Windows PC with a static IP to manage my Access Point or switch with default settings?

Windows XP/Windows 7/Windows 8/Windows 10

In order to connect to the Access Point, you must first configure the TCP/IPv4 connection of your Windows OS computer  system. (Unless you already have an IP in the same subnet.)

Step 1: Open the Control Panel

[Windows XP / 7]  Click the Start button and open the Control Panel.

[Windows 8]  Move your mouse to the lower right hot corner to display the Charms Bar and select the Control Panel.

[Windows 10] Click Start to select All APPs to enter the folder of Windows system for selecting Control Panel.

Step 2: Open the connections/adapters.

[Windows XP] Click “Network Connections”.

[Windows 7 / 8 / 10] Click “View Network Status and Tasks” in the “Network and Internet section”, then select “Change adapter settings”.

Step 3: Right click on “Local Area Connection” and select “Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)” and then select Properties.

Step 4: Select “Use the following IP address” and enter an IP address that is different from the Access Point, but in the same subnet and enter the same subnet mask.

Step 5: Press OK when done.
